The Real McKoi
by Carol Clewlow (Actors: 4)
Originally commissioned by Newcastle University and performed in a schools tour around Newcastle, Gateshead and South Tyneside in November 2009. Specifically written for a young audience ( 14 - 16 years) the play, which is both witty and insightful, deals with the subject of disengagement in education. It features four young people who have bunked off school for the day, and who discuss their lives, school in general, and their hopes and fears for the future. As with all Operating Theatre productions the play can be performed anywhere. The only prop is a park bench which Operating Theatre provides. A twist at the end particularly challenges the young audiences.
