Learning Disability

Winterbourne View was the scandal that was supposed to change everything. The Assessment and Treatment centre was the focus of an undercover Panorama investigation. The findings were shocking and highlighted the vulnerability of patients with learning disabilities who presented with challenging behaviours. The government promised that things would change and it was recommended that patients be removed from A&T centres as a matter of urgency. Those centres are still open and only recently new cases of abuse have come to light.

Our moving piece For the Best explores the issues around supporting those with learning disabilities and Out of Sight, which is available as a film, describes a very similar case. Both are available for performance and we have created Education Packs to enhance the learning experience.
